FYI: one of the B&Bs recommended in the latest Rick Steves Ireland book is "closed for the season."
Westwinds Guesthouse in Salthill replied to my inquiry after a couple of weeks via email "we are remaining closed for the season ahead due to a health condition with a family member. As this is a family run guesthouse We are not taking reservations until we know better the prognosis."
Their website remains open, without any updated info. The website does not take online bookings; you have to send them a reservation inquiry. So there's nothing deceptive about it, just not very apparent or responsive.
We're going in May 2024 and others traveling this year should cross this option off their lists.
