Galway and Clifden> suggestions on accommodations?

We are a family of 5, 2 parents with 3 adult children. Curious if anyone has any recommendations for places to stay in either Galway or Clifden. We would like to be able to walk to local pubs for music or dinner, so accessibllity to the main areas is a plus. Thanks so much!

For five adults, you'll probably do better with an AirBnB than two hotel rooms. Make sure your place includes parking (or take my earlier suggestion to pick up the car after your stay in Galway).

It wasn't cheap (but not outrageous either), but we loved the Abbeyglen Castle hotel in Clifden. I don't understand the 4.4 on Tripadvisor because almost all the reviews were 5s. Parking was free when we were there.

We also stayed at Abbeyglen, and it's about a 10 minute walk to the middle of town. Their onsite dining room had good food, and I really enjoyed the music in the bar after dinner.

We stayed in B&B’s, and the five of you would need (and probably want) more than one room.

Galway - we stayed at the Petra House B&B. It’s seems to be getting booked up earlier and earlier in the year, so depending on your travel dates, there may or may not be rooms available. There are other B&B’s nearby, along the same road, but I don’t have personal experience with them.

Clifden - we stayed at the Buttermilk Lodge. It was a quick downhill walk to the center of things. For dinner, Mitchell’s had great seafood, and we ate there two of the nights during our stay.

We stayed at Abbeyglen in Clifden with our 2 teenagers and I have to (respectfully) disagree with the others. I did not love the property. It felt dated, smelled musty and the food was just okay. We would not stay there again. In Galway, we've stayed at the Leonardo Hotel, which was great. They have parking, it's close to everything and you can get breakfast included should you choose.
