Late April, we are planning to leave Galway in the morning, drive to the Burren Perfumery, on to the Cliffs of Moher and then head down to Dingle. Any suggestions on places to stop in the Burren to take in its grandeur? Or other great stops? We plan to take our time and know it's a long day. Any suggestions/insights are most welcome.
In the Burren check out Poulnabrone Dolmen, Caherconnel Ring Fort and Ailwee Caves. Near the perfumery I believe is the Hazel Mountain Chocolate Factory and the ruins of Corcomroe Abbey. The stone crosses in Kilfenora are pretty cool. If you have time drive Loop Head Peninsula before taking the Tarbert Ferry on to Dingle.
Thank you for the quick response!
We did this same path just a few days ago. We left Galway at 9am, stopped at Poulnabrone Dolmen and Cliffs of Moher before driving on to Dingle. We got into Dingle at around 4pm. If you are up for it, arriving in Dingle via Conor Pass was an experience!
We did that exact path after picking up our car in Galway. We loved driving through the Burren. We stopped at the Poulnabrone Dolman - an ancient portal tomb. Then we stopped at Caherconnell stone fort, mainly as a restroom stop! They had a lovely gift shop and cafe. And they were getting ready to have a sheep dog demonstration! I'm so glad we made that stop! All of that was on the drive through The Burren. After stopping at the Cliffs of Moher, we were getting hungry. We stopped in the small village in Liscannor on our way to the ferry. You can't get any more authentic than fish and chips at Joseph McPugh's! We didn't make any more stops till we got to Dingle. It was a full day and we arrived in Dingle just in time to check in to our hotel and make our dinner reservations.
Thanks for the replies!
