From Doolin to Killary Sheep Farm to Westport

Thank you for another route question. We have a spacious driving day to go from Doolin to Killary Sheep Farm and on to Westport. Does anyone have a suggestion for a route they have enjoyed taking? Thanks for the help.

It's going to be a long driving day, but if you're willing to extend it a bit I'd suggest taking the N59 from Galway out to Clifden and maybe break up your day there with a stop for lunch. It's a cute little place in its own right and the Sky Road scenic drive just west of the town is one of Ireland's best on a sunny day. From there you can continue clockwise to the sheep farm with possible stops along the way at Connemara National Park, where there's a short hike up to the top of a feature called Diamond Hill, and/or at Kylemore Abbey. It's all part of the Connemara Loop Drive that many of us here particularly enjoy.
Time and interest permitting, you could detour on your way up to Westport out to the Doolough Memorial near the village of Delphi. Can google it to read about what happened there back during the famine years and decide whether it might be of interest.
