My husband, a commercial fisherman, and I plan to be in Ireland for fresh NOT fried seafood in September. We are going to Oban Scotland just for the seafood and would like suggestions for Ireland. Galway is part of trip. We would like basic unadulterated seafood in Ireland also.
Fresh sea food is available throughout Eire.
In Galway try White Gables or Hooked.
If you are in Bantry go to https://thefishkitchen.ie/. I meal was so delicious.
Oscar’s in Galway, reservation recommended.
In Cork, Goldie - reservation required due to demand..
In Kinsale everyone in my group loved Fishy Fishy.
I had fresh seafood in Dingle, County Kerry. I think it was Out of the Blue restaurant, though I'm not completely sure. The waitress told me my catch had come in the same day. Though there was no way to verify that, it certainly tasted great.
There is a thriving fishing industry in Dingle, which is in the southwest of Ireland. You'll see the fishing boats in the harbor. I've been to Dingle two times.
Numerous other Irish towns have an active fishing sector.
Craig, thanks for reminding me of Out Of The Blue in Dingle. Excellent food. Both there and Fishy Fishy in Oban we stopped in earlier in the day to make a reservation. We were there last August. You may want to do the same in September.
Andrea: You're welcome! I'll have to make it Oban. I visited Scotland in 1999, but, unfortunately, did not make it to Oban. Cheers.
Is there a Fishy Fishy in Scotland, too. We went to the Fishy Fishy Restaurant in Kinsale, Ireland and it was wonderful!
We ate at a wonderful seafood restaurant in Oban called EE-Usk which features local seafood. I would recommend that you book reservations in advance.
Another vote for Out of the Blue in Dingle and Ee-Usk in Oban
Thanks so much for all of your reply. My husband broke his hip 3 week before our trip so now rescheduling Oban for April.
Margie is correct, Fishy Fishy was in Kinsale. We loved it. I’ve corrected my response. We had a really good seafood dinner in Oban, but I can’t remember the name of it.
