I see an app based taxi service called FreeNow recommended for the Republic of Ireland. The app looks good but has anyone used it? How well does it work? Is it Dublin only?
Thanks so much for any info!!

I used FreeNow in Edinburgh and it worked fine. The driver came promptly and everything went well. I would use it again.
It is used all over Europe.
Ah! Great. Thank you both so much!
Great, just added to my phone for England Ireland trip!
Used last year in Dublin and will do so again later this year. Just like uber/lyft.
Just used it and it works well. Now keep in mind it is not Uber/Lyft (i.e., cheap). You are just getting a taxi through an app and will pay taxi fares. Uber/Lyft are not allowed (due to competition) in most European countries. The only negative I had was when I first would start looking for a taxi it would say it would be there in 1 minute or less, but when you actually click to request it, it might be 3-5 minutes (which was still adequate, but when I was timing from when to leave the hotel room it just added time). Not a biggie. So reliable we even used it for going to the airport without reserving one.
I used it unsuccessfully in Nice. Cab never came. Kept calling me asking where I was (although I was standing exactly were the app dropped the pin). Ended up cancelling the trip in the app which charged me full fare. I don't know if Lyft/Bolt/Uber charge you when you cancel because I have never had a problem with these or had to cancel a requested ride. In Nice, I ultimately called an Uber.
I have used it in Valencia and Madrid Spain as well as Athens Greece. Worked really well. No issues and straightforward.
Love it.
