Four days after Kinsale, no car

I am traveling with family from Dublin to Kinsale via car.

I am then parting ways with them, and will be solo with no car. It is more important for me to NOT drive by car than to see any particular place. So I'd love advice on where to go FROM Kinsale that I can travel to by bus or train for 3-4 additional days.

Here's my current idea: Take a bus from Kinsale to Galway or to Kilarney and do day-trips with tour companies from there, and then take a train back to Dublin to fly home.

Thanks for any advice or alternatives that will help me see the beauty of ireland and not have to be in a car. Thank you!

I'd definitely take Galway over Killarney any day. The latter is overly-touristy, though with access to the Gap of Dunloe and Killarney National Park among other attractions.

For a more serene and scenic experience take the train (www.irishrail.ie/en-ie) from Cork to lively Galway, then hook up with a tour operator to see Connemara, in my expereience the most beautiful region in Ireland. You can also take the bus from Galway west to Rossaveel, then hop the ferry for a day or overnight trip to the Aran Islands.

The return trip from Galway to Dublin Heuston via Irish Rail is a direct, two and one-half hour ride.
