Food tour recommendations for Dublin?

Any recommendations for a great small group food tour in Dublin?

The RS guidebook recommends Fab Food Trails, but it appears to be more focused on snacks and treats. We'd like to find something that will introduce us to hidden gem cafes and restaurants where we can return for meals over the course of our stay.

For example, we took a Culinary Backstreets tour (https://culinarybackstreets.com/) in Athens that was a highlight of our entire trip. Not only was the tour guide interesting and informative, the experience gave us a great list of restaurants off the touristy beaten path that kept us fed and happy over the course of our stay.

In Dublin, TripAdvisor recommends Secret Food Tours and Tapas Trails. However both vendors have some concerning recent reviews.

Hoping someone has found a hearty foodie tour that knocks it out of the park, like Culinary Backstreets.

Thanks!

In case anyone else is interested in Dublin food tours, I thought I would share what I came up with (which is different from the Rick Steves guidebook recommendation).

After some reading and googling, I decided to book with "Walking Food tours" hosted by Kevin Adams. Here's the website: https://walkingfoodtours.ie/

Why I chose this tour host:
- Seems the most genuine and authentic and the least like a big impersonal tourist vendor.
- I submitted a few questions on the website form and received a prompt and very thoughtful response. I was really impressed with the amount of care devoted by Kevin to ensuring he addressed what I was looking for.
- It's kind of a cool concept that you walk around and hear about the neighborhoods and stop by restaurants and pubs with the option to purchase food (which is not included in the cost). So, while food is a part of the experience, it plays a supporting role. And you get to choose what you want to try and how much of it. That is different from other food tours we've been on so I'll be interested to see if we like this way of doing it.
- Kevin also offers a "Drinks on Foot" pub tour with an emphasis on understanding Irish beers. Um, yes please! We are doing that one, as well.

Anyway, sharing in case someone else finds this helpful.

Thank you for doing the leg work on this. I too saw so many food tour options for our April trip and it is difficult to know which to choose.

Thanks for the food tour advice! When are you in Ireland and doing this? I'd love to hear feedback on the tour. We are going the beginning of June and are interested in something like this.

@suzanne.black13 We will be doing this tour in September, so not in time to give you any insights before your visit, unfortunately. I, too, would love to hear if anyone does this before than and what their impressions are. The Google reviews continue to be very positive. We actually booked both the "Drinks on Foot" as well as the "Food on Foot" tours (separate days). It just sounds like a lot of fun for a reasonable price. We are looking forward to it!

My husband, 2 other couples and I did "The Unconventional food tour" with our Canadian guide Lo/Laura We booked through Airbnb but she left us a link to her site www.loontheroad.com

It was really cool because we went to a few places that were more popular and then some other places you would definitely not think of going to on your own but really showed case quality Irish food.

We ate so much food and had such a good time and it was really nice because she only does small groups so everybody gets to know each other.

It's definitely an informal tour in terms of how laid back things are but she had great relationships with all of the restaurants and definitely had a lot of knowledge about the Irish food scene.

The only downside is she doesn't cater to any allergies so just be aware of that.

It was actually the highlight of our trip!

We did see the " food on foot" tour mentioned above but you actually choose and pay for your own food on that one in addition to the ticket price. For us we would much rather have the guide decide what we're eating but it's all up to the individual in the end which format they prefer.

Deborah, I don't know about tours, but last week we happened upon a Dublin restaurant called "The Bank" at College Green. Amazing place, must have been the most ornate bank I've ever seen. Definitely a sight to see. Good food, reasonable prices. Even the bathrooms downstairs (where the vaults are) is worth a look.
