We are booking travel from the US to Ireland and then to Scotland this fall. We have run into an unexpected issue. We cannot find any direct flights from Shannon to Edinburgh on Sunday. Rynair has one leaving at after 11 PM. All of the others fly through Heathrow. There are plenty of direct flights on all other days. Has anyone else encountered this? Is it a result of demand or something else?
Book the TA to Dublin, not Shannon, then there are a number of flights to Edinburgh on a Sunday.
Or if you have time In Ireland before Scotland, do whatever your Irish plans are as Shannon to Dublin.
Is it a result of demand or something else?
Lack of demand is probably the issue.
At the risk of being Captain Obvious, is moving the transfer day an option? ( vs a zig-zag Sunday)
Yes, we have moved our exit date from Ireland to Scotland from Sunday to Saturday. I was just curious. There were plenty of Sunday flights, but all through London.
Airline scheduling is a high artform. (There's a few Youtube's discussing the subject). I'm planning a trip that includes SEA/GLA and IcelandAir flies the route daily except Tuesday. Alaska keeps moving feeder flights to SEA and scuttling whatever plans I make for transatlantic travel.
