Fine jewelry

I would like to buy my spouse a piece of fine jewelry (not sure exactly what at this point) for a special gift while we are in Ireland for a milestone anniversary. Can anyone recommend a good seller there?

Responders will probably benefit from knowing what cities you are going to visit.

Ireland is a small country and we will be all over, so it doesn't really matter to me.

The Claddagh Ring is a traditional piece of Irish jewelry. As I recall the design represents love, loyalty and friendship. They're especially popular in Galway but am sure that any jewelry store will have them.

I'd also suggest a really nice claddagh ring. There was also some nice gold and marble jewelry in Connamara at the marble quarry factory. One thing that several people on our tour purchased was a story bracelet. We saw them at several shops but don't remember exactly where. They had them in silver and gold, from costume jewelry type to quite pricey gold ones. You could do a search on where to buy them if you're interested, they're quite lovely.

You will find very similar jewelry in all of the shops. So what you buy depends on her taste and your budget. When I was there in 2015 I purchased a set of white gold wedding bands with diamond chips and celtic knots for my husband and myself. I bought them at the Blarney Woolen Mills Jewelry counter. We are both still wearing them : ).

If I was the spouse I would ask for something with celtic knots and Connemara marble.

If you are in Dingle I can recommend both John Weldon and Brian De Staic. I have some lovely silver pendents from each. De Staic offers an interesting collection of items on which they will engrave your name (or presumably what ever you would like) using the Ogham alphabet.

While in Dublin in July, I was getting ice cream from Teddy's (a must!) and when I came out my husband showed me a necklace at Deirdre O'Donnell designs, right next door. We were celebrating our 20th anniversary and he wanted to give me a gift. Everything there is lovely, and hand designed and made by Deirdre or her staff. It was a wonderful surprise and momento from our trip.
