Family trip for first time

Taking a trip with wife and two boys (12 and 9) in mid October. These forums have been incredibly helpful. Going to be in Ireland for 6-7 days before heading over to London for a week and am thinking the following. Dublin days 1-3, Day 4 drive to Galway, day 5 in Galway, day 6 drive to the Cliffs of Moher and find a castle hotel to stay in near there. Day 7 fly to London out of Shannon. Would love your thoughts and any suggestions on castle hotels near Shannon or west coast. Also looking at hotels in Dublin that are slightly upscale near fun tourist hangouts. Thanks!

Forgot to ask, would you recommend Dingle Peninsula over Galway with our time frame?

We took our kids last summer, they were 8 and 11. We stayed at the Shelbourne which is upscale and near everything. They also had a pool which is always a plus with my kids.

In Dublin we all enjoyed the hop on and off bus, the book of kells but our favourites were Kilmainham gaol ( boy tickets ahead) and Dublinia,

Galway was just ok with our kids.. part of it was that the weather was really crummy. We did love the Cliffs of Moher. Dingle was another favourite. On our way from Dingle to Galway we stopped at Bunratty folk part which was great. Dingle has a ton of horseback riding options as well.

If your family is sporty, I highly recommend the Killarney area. We loved renting bikes just outside the park and biking to Muckross house and farms. We also biked to Torc waterfall. In the area, we also took in a sheep herding demonstration at Kissane farms which was great.

Thanks for the great info. I looked at the Shelborne and they have twin beds but state on their website that max occupancy is 2 which seems odd. I did find a double room at the Westbury which seems like a great location for walking around. Anyone have experiences at Westbury?
