extra day in Dublin or day trip up to Belfast

We have 4 days booked in Dublin this June. One of these days will be in spent in the haze of jet lag from the Flight from LA. Thus we have 3 full days in Dublin with clear heads. Question.... should we spend 1 of our 3 days and take a day trip using train to Belfast for a quick visit or just stay in Dublin for a full 3 days? I would love to hear your opinions about visiting Belfast for the day or just staying in Dublin to explore the city further?

With only 3 days in Dublin I would not take one of them to go to Belfast. There is so much to see and do in and around Dublin. If you want to do a day trip I would suggest going to Glendalough which is south of Dublin. It is a beautiful monastic area and the area around it is very scenic. If you don't want to drive, there are several tour companies that go there. One small group tour is Over the Top. I think that is the name. The drive over Sally Gap to Glendalough is beautiful. Enjoy your trip.

Stay in Dublin. Plenty to see and do. A possible day trip to the north is New Grange.

I'm going to disagree and say take the 2 hour bus or train ride to Belfast.

Remember currency will be pounds in NI not euros.

Titanic Museum, Black Cab tour of the Troubles, Cremlin Road Gaol, seafood chowder at Mournes Sea Food next to the Kelly Cellars pub and then back to Dublin.

Go to Belfast and do the Black Taxi Tour. It will help you understand Northern Ireland.
