Ennius or Doolin on a rainy day?

I’m in Doolin; our group of four is thinking of spending tomorrow in Ennis, since it will be raining hard and not a good day for hiking. We’re here in Doolin for three days, have gone out to one of the Aran Islands, today we hiked in the Burren and at the Cliffs of Moher. So, no “must sees.” I’m thinking of just staying in Doolin tomorrow, wandering down the main drag and popping into the shops, heading back to the pier to see the enormous waves. Wondering what folks think about Ennius vs. my plan for tomorrow - thanks!

Well, as long as the weather allows, why not take the short drive over to Ennis to explore another town?
We've generally found that "down days", when we have nothing particular planned and just take the day as it comes, are some of our most memorable when traveling around Ireland. You never know what you're going to encounter when you're relaxed and laid back for a day and not focused on going somewhere to view someone else's "must see".

Hello from Wisconsin,
Absolutely get to Ennis. As I recall there is underground parking at one end of its 'high street'. And that high street even in rain is worth walking from end to the other and back. You can duck into one store after another. True some of them are shops. Look for the Marian Shop at the top of the street. Ennis is not THAT far away fro Doolin. Plus you can take the 'long way' either there or coming back through Corofin, Kilfenora, and Lisdoonvarna.

Just west of Killinaboy, between Corofin and Kilfenora, is a road that heads north. If you take it you will know you are onthe correct road because shortly after getting on it there is a long S curve. ALong this road are several megalithic tombs, Small, but if you are into this... Going up this road is just a side trip, loop west and come back down. to the Lisdoonvarna path.

Wow, I just looked at the housing near Doolin. The housing boom in the US was tiny compared to Ireland's or Spain's. The road west of Killinaboy that heads north has fewer new buildings. More like Ireland of 1970.

Thanks for the replies. I did go to Ennis yesterday, and I’m glad I went. Had a wonderful walking tour through the TI. A very pretty town with plenty to do, even on a rainy day. I should mention that yesterday was the final walking tour of the season, unless pre-arranged.
