I did a quick search, but perhaps I didn't get the terms correct. I have access to British "English" pounds to start my trip in Northern Ireland until we have time to hit an ATM. Will there be any issues using these in Belfast? I understand that NI pounds might be less willingly accepted elsewhere in GB, but that's not going to be any issue. Thanks.
I was in Belfast last fall and can confirm that the British pound are used. You may get both NI and British pounds from ATMs.
There is no problem with spending Bank of England notes in Northern Ireland - and no particular need to get Northern Ireland bank notes at all if you wish. The Bank of England is the central bank for the whole of the UK. The issues in NI and Scotland are commercial ones in sterling, not a separate currency, and at one time there were private issues in England too..
Thank you for the quick replies
