We intend to buy tickets for the castle. Is it easy to visit without a guide? Also, after the castle can we tour the city on our own? Any suggestions on sights?

are you looking for the Scotland forum? If you are, you wont need a guide for the castle in Edinburgh, they have guided tours on a regular schedule, pretty cool.

Hope you know where Edinburgh and the castle are located. It might help if you looked at map to understand the geography of Great Britain and Ireland. I posted an answer to the your same question in the Scotland section.
