Would appreciate recommendations on establishments with good food (restaurants or pubs) in Kenmare, Kinsale and Kilkenny.
Recently, on the RS Heart of Ireland tour, we all ate at the Rive Gauche (Left Bank) restaurant in Kilkenny, across from the castle on "The Parade" street. Food was excellent.
We ate at Man Friday in Kinsale. We both had salmon with a cream sauce and really enjoyed it. We also had stone fired pizza at Bruno’s that was really good. The pastas coming out of the kitchen looked really good too. Both places need reservations and I would go back to both of those.
In Kilkenny, our dinner at Langdon’s was forgettable. I was looking forward to a steak dinner and it was similar to a cheap steak you would get at a chain steakhouse. It was disappointing given that it was recommended by a local friend that lives in Kilkenny. Our last night was at Left Bank. Dinner was delicious, atmosphere very eclectic and cozy. I would eat there again.
In Kilkenny, we ate on the terrace at the River Court Hotel, nothing fancy but a lovely view of the Castle just across the river. We also enjoyed Billy Byrne's, which has a nice outdoor area. We had typical pub food while we watched the World Cup final. Younger crowd, as I recall.
The seafood chowder at Kitty Ó Sé’s in Kinsale is awfully good.
Kinsale has some great spots. We had great dinners at both Finn’s Farmcut and Fishy Fishy. Kenmare we were told Mulcahy's was the best. Unfortunately it was closed the two nights we stayed there.
