Hello. I would like advice on the best way to get from the center of Dublin to the airport via public transportation where I plan to pick up a rental car. We have not picked out a place to stay in Dublin yet, so I can't be more specific about departure location. How long does the trip take-I'd like to get an early start on the day? Thanks

I think you indicated that you have Rick's Ireland book, so see the intro to the Dublin chapter, p. 29 in the 2016 edition. The Airlink bus #747 or Aircoach brand bus are both faster than the regular city buses.

Hertz has a rental location on the North Circular Road in Dublin. Not in the center of the city but not on the outskirts either. You could reserve online and then have a taxi pick you up at your hotel and take you to the Hertz office. Been there..done that....painless.
