Arrive in a Monday to Dublin airport. Spending a few hours before train or bus to Galway. Back to Dublin Thursday evening until Sat am. Staying in Clontarf (near Howth) Th and Fri. Looking for best transportation option from arrival on Th evening until departure from Dublin airport on Sat am.

I have found the best way to get from the airport to the city centre to be Airlink. From Clontarf to city centre, I would say the DART would be the best option. We stayed in Dun Laoghaire a few weeks ago and found taking the DART to be so easy.
Sorry that I am no help for Dublin to Galway. We had rented a car.

There are no direct bus services between Clontarf and the airport so a taxi would probably be your best bet. There are frequent bus services to the city centre, info on www.dublinbus.ie

CityLink buses go direct non-stop from either Dublin City or Dublin airport to Galway (and the other direction. I took one from Dublin city; it took about 2 1/2 hours.. They run every hour.
