After a few days in Dublin we are spending a night in Waterford before heading on to Cork. We were thinking to stop at Powerscourt and Glendalough on the way down to Waterford and then checking out the Dunbrody Famine Ship and Waterford Crystal tour. Is that a little too ambitious for one day considering the driving time? If we had to pick between Powerscourt and Glendalough which would you all recommend visiting? Thanks for any advice!

Personally I'd pick Glendalough.
I'd opt for Glendalough too, but since they're such different experiences you're best advised to read up on both and decide which one best suits your fancy.
If you do go to Glendalough I highly recommend avoiding the mid-day hours when the tour buses tend to clobber the place. We made it a point to get there well before the Visitor Center opened (and the buses started pulling in) and had the place all to ourselves.
We were leaning towards Glendalough as well since we are more interested in the historical sites. We are early birds so I think we will plan on getting up early and being at Glendalough before the visitor center opens as well. Thank you for the tip!
One thing to be aware of: the restrooms are located inside the visitor center, and they don't unlock them until their official opening time.
Can either make a pit stop in the village just up the road or deal with it in true hiker fashion.
Thanks Robert! Definitely good info to have:)
