Most simple way to get to Shannon from Dublin? Looking at flights, they all seem to route back through the UK which we want to avoid. Thank you!! Looking forward to our trip in May/22!
It's a 4 hr train ride, why wouldn't you go that route?
Drive, bus or train.
I don’t see any trains to Shannon but I do see a bus from Dublin City South, Burgh Quay to Limerick Arthur’s Quay (3h). You’ll need to walk over to Henry Street stop 610001 (5-minutes according to Rome2rio) to get to Shannon Airport that will take another 45-minutes.
You should also check Shannon's airport website: https://www.shannonairport.ie/passengers/to-from/bus/.
Much appreciative of the information!
how sad to be stuck on a bus for 3 hours!
I'd drive and make a few interesting stops along the way.
The train from Dublin Heuston station to Limerick (Colbert) takes a couple of hours. Shannon airport is then 20 miles up the road, or about 30 minutes by taxi.
Check the Irish Rail website for schedules and pricing: https://www.irishrail.ie/en-ie/Home.
It is actually one of the 'easiest' drives in Ireland in my opinion. There is a highway and it is a straight drive.
