Our tour ends in Dublin bet we are renting a car to be picked up from the Derry Airport. What’s the best way to get from one to another? I can go through Belfast but we will be there later as well.

Why not rent a car from the Dublin airport?
You can take a train to Belfast and another train to Derry. Then either a Translink bus (station is across the river, probably a 15-20-minute walk) or a taxi (£11).

Hourly Train to Belfast, change for hourly train to Coleraine (as opposed to Derry), bus #234 from Coleraine Bus and Train Centre to Derry Airport, roughly every 2 hours (check the times with Translink).
Translink bus X3/X4 runs direct to Derry from Dublin for the 234 the other way to Derry airport.

You can train from Dublin to Belfast, then train from Belfast to Derry. Derry airport is pretty far outside of town so you will either need to take the bus or a cab to the airport.
