Hi, my husband & I will be getting to Dublin the morning of 21 May. Next week! Just discovered the Village of Dalkey & would love to walk on the beach looking out to Dalkey Island! We'll be staying at Castleknock CC. next to Phoenix Park. The only time we have open is the afternoon of the 22nd. How would we get to Dalkey? Bus, train? Would you please suggest route numbers, where to get train or bus & how long it would take so that we could plan to have lunch or a picnic on the beach? Thanks very much. Lauren

You can take the DART train which takes half an hour, departing Dublin Connolly station, and running in the direction toward Bray or Greystones (same as for Dun Laoghaire, pages 118 and 146, if you have Rick's Ireland book). Trains also serve Tara Street and Dublin Pearse stops. From Castleknock, you can change trains at either Dublin Pearse or Connolly stations. See also www.irishrail.ie.
