Dublin to Cork

we are arriving in Dublin and heading right to Cork. was planing on the train. as there are 5 of us, I was wondering if it makes sense to hire a car and driver to do the drive with a stop in Kilkenny on the way? Or a stop to see Cashel on the way? does this make any sense? we would not see these places otherwise.

thank you!

Driving after the overnight flight is less than ideal, and stops will only deepen that fatigue risk.

I’m pretty sure there’s an express bus from the airport to Cork. The train is perfectly comfortable, but you’d have to get to Euston station.

Yes, the Aircoach.ie website shows that there are buses from the Dublin airport to St. Patrick’s Quay in Cork.

Have you figured out the cost and timing differences? Those would all be factors for me.

Check prices. All things being roughly equal, I'd take the train. I suspect hiring a car and driver might be surprisingly expensive (hint: car rentals in Europe are crazy this summer...).

thanks David...I originally started thinking about this before the crazy fuel prices. good point.
