Dublin the weekend of May 28th - CRAZY prices

I live in Waterville and am going to see Bruce Springsteen the weekend of May 27-29th in Dublin. I've just started scoping out a place to stay....

Just wanted to give a warning to anyone reading this -- the prices for hotels/B&B's/AirBnB/hostels are absolutely through the roof!! I've contacted the 11 places I've stayed in the past - and all are sold out. I've contacted modest - very modest - hotels and they're charging E345 a night!! The price gauging is horrible. Almost as bad as Austin during SXSW! (where I used to live).

So if anyone is looking for a stay over in Dublin around that time - be prepared!!

This is my biggest dilemma right now. I fly out of Dublin on the 30th & need rooms. I have been looking for rooms as far as Howth & Dun Laoghaire & absolutely can't find anything. And seriously, a Bruce S concert can shut down the whole city?!?!? Really!!!! Any suggestions on what I can do? I am desperate.

Kathy - I finally booked a dorm room for 4 (there's two of us) at Spire Hostel. I've stayed there before - it's clean but really - i wanted this weekend to be fun.

It's cheaper for me to fly roundtrip to america than to go to Dublin for the weekend for this concert!! I've seen Bruce Springsteen 27 times -- this is by far the most expensive concert I've ever gone to - almost $400 for 2 tickets....

Greetings Susan.
Indeed, its sad times when a modest hotel in Dublin is €345 per night.
In saying that I have just arrived in LA for a few days holiday before tour-guide season starts with Rick, and Im paying $250 for a modest hotel in Santa Monica, and Bruce Springsteen is nowhere to be seen... :(
I guess price-gouging is an international phenomenon!
Enjoy the concert, Ill ask around for some rooms for you

Stephen, hotels in the US are, in general, more expensive than in Europe. The kind of modest pension or guesthouse, not fancy but perfectly nice, that I frequent in Europe, just doesn't exist in most US cities. And as Claudia says, Santa Monica is not going to be the place to find bargains.

Hello Susan. Bruce S is big over there then. That is one expensive ticket. So if it's Adele's turn the whole country shuts down then. lol (big Adele fan)
Anyway, we changed our plans. We want to spend a couple of nights in Galway. So on our last day, we plan to take the train from Galway to Dublin then bus to Dublin International Airport for our 3 pm flight. My question. Are Ireland trains (especially the Galway to Dublin route) reliable? Does the Irish Railways ever cancel train routes or just change schedules at the last minute?

Train Galway to Dublin 2hrs 30 mins
You might need to take the 07.30 am arrive Dublin 10.00. Bus 747 to From Station to Airport allow 1 hour. or take taxi

Book train 2 weeks in advance as cheaper

Next train is 9.30 out of Galway arrive Dublin 12.00 and Airport 13.00 ( might be too tight)
