Any recommendations for places in Dublin to pick up sandwiches, etc. . . . . . . rather than eating out every meal and just finding a park to relax and enjoy the sights.
Most of the grocery stores have takeout counters where you can order as well as some prepared/pre-packaged stuff as well. The variety was always very good and included a lot more than sandwiches and they were all over the place so easy to find.
There's a place on Dame St called SPAR that sells sandwiches & desserts to either eat in or take away. We ate lunch there the day we toured Dublin Castle.
When we were in Dublin several years ago Avoca was opening a take-away area in their store on Suffolk Street near Grafton Street.
They weren't ready for business but having eaten in their restaurant at the same store I would think their take-away food would be good.
There's also a store on Grafton that advertises deli and take away food. I can not remember the name of this store.
Check out Marks & Spencer department store which has a food hall with lots of different options. There are also a few "Marks & Spencer Simply Food" locations in Dublin. They sell a lot of prepared foods - some hot (like rotisserie chicken) and others cold. Good salads as well. They carry loads of snacks (I like to check out whatever strange flavored potato chips aka "crisps" they sell - lamb & mint, prawn cocktail, etc.).
Lemon Crepe & Coffee Company is another one I like - they sell both savory and sweet crepes and they also carry a number of pretty good sandwiches.
Lots of places around where you can also get some pretty good kebabs or falafel - all easy foods to get as takeaway options and then find a bench or a park to have your meal.
