Dublin Pub Music

Hello!

My Family and I are traveling to Dublin - however, we will only be in the city for about 28 hours - we are staying in the Temple Bar neighborhood.

Does anyone have any suggestions for good Pubs with some good Music?

We are not afraid to "go off the beaten path" and we don't mind a small laid back pub experience either. But we love music, and were hoping to check out some local Dublin pub music.

Thanks!

You will be in Temple Bar area? We just walked through there this evening. Seriously, you can go in ANYWHERE there that catches your eye/ear as you walk through, as long as you can get in the door and are not bothered by a very young and drunk crowd.

As Larry says, just walk around and you will find all kinds of places. There actually is a Temple Bar in the Temple Bar area, as well as many others with music.

Greeting from Ireland.
Like previous posts I also enjoy the music in Temple bar, the crowd will be 95% tourists, but the music will generally always be good quality.
If you want a more authentic pub sing-along and to be surround by locals and Irish people, head to 'The Celt' on talbot street, Northside. 5 minutes walk from the Millennium spire (aka stiletto in the ghetto) on O'Connell street.
Enjoy

I have gone to the Celt. Good music, but really full. Go early to get a seat. I have been to Temple Bar also. As suggested, just walk around and listen to the music coming out of the door. If you like it, go in, buy a half pint or a pint, and enjoy the music. When the players take a break, go to another bar.

In answer to a similar question on this Forum in February, I recalled that the RS guidebook recommended a pub on the north side of the river for the music. At the time I could not locate the name of that place, but Pat has jogged my memory and I found a reference. It is indeed the Cobblestone Pub that Rick recommended (p94, RS' Ireland 2014). We had been there on our last Irish trip. I can't recall the beer at all, but the music was much more like the Trad heard in Dingle, etc. than what we've heard in Temple Bar area. If you are prone to being creeped-out by dreary, deserted streets at night, starting from Temple Bar area, first walk west along the north side of the river, then turn north into Smithfield Square area.
