Dublin, Private Hostel Room or Regular Hotel ( Castle)

Hello,

So my girlfriend and I are considering doing an audible from going to Marrakesh to Ireland. Right now we are in the very beginning stages of seeing if we want to change. We would be going in late March.

We mainly want to know if we should try for a hostel private room like The Generator or Abbey Court or Gogartys. If not should we just consider a hotel like the Temple Bar Inn, Marlin Hotel or Arlington Hotel? We have also seen some castles that could be fun as well. We generally stay in private hostel rooms but are looking at prices and some of the hotels are actually cheaper during that time. We would only stay in Dublin for a day or two. The rest of the time will be spent in either Cork, Kerry, or Belfast ( all up in the air right now as we are in stage one ).

An "audible" is an American football reference to when the quarterback "audibly" changes the play at the line of scrimmage. So here, the OP is considering changing at the relative last minute his/her travel plans.

You’ll save a lot of euros by timing your Dublin visit for weeknights. Friday and Saturday nights along with summer nights are all expensive. Dublin is a big weekend destination.
There are many accommodations in late March ( not March 17)! near the attractions south of the Liffey for less than €120 if you check—Wren Urban Nest, The Fleet, Gogarty’s Temple Bar Hostel, Temple Bar Inn, Handel’s Hotel, etc. The Staycity Aparthotels are also excellent value and have equipped kitchens. www.Trivago.com

It’s true that Dublin prices are a bit wacky. Basically I think it comes down to whether you put price or facilities or perhaps the social setting highest. Just read your reviews and see what you find out.

I don’t think Trinity Accomodations will be an option in March, but otherwise it’s good.
