We are arriving in Dublin with accomodations in Killiney on a Saturday afternoon leaving on Monday am. Would you do the hop on hop off bus tour on Sunday or book a tour to Newgrange?
If you've never been to Dublin before, I say just spend the day there. There's lots to do. The National Museum is fantastic, walking along the River Liffey in Temple Bar is fun, and you could visit Dublin Castle and perhaps St. Patrick's Cathedral. We didn't ride the HOHO bus, but that might be a good way to get to all those places.
Newgrange is wonderful, but that's pretty much a full day trip from Dublin. If you want to experience Dublin at all in your limited time, I say save the trip to Newgrange for another time.
Newgrange without any equivocation. It is a tremendously historical and moving place. You can do plenty of walking about in Dublin late Saturday. And you'll probably have extra time after your return from Newgrange to do additional exploring in Dublin.
I would for sure stay around Dublin, There is so much to see and do.
Thank you all for your input. Very excited.

I think it depends on how interested you are in Neolithic passage tombs. I, personally, would do Newgrange in a heartbeat but Dublin might suit you better. If you or your travel companions are in any way claustrophobic, rethink Newgrange as it is tight in there.
Since you have a car, I recommend a stop at the Loughcrew tomb. Very interesting and no need for advanced tickets. It's smaller that Newgrange, but still very interesting.
