Dublin-Old Mill Restaurant

Hi - This was one of the places our hotel suggested . I tried a search but there’s not a lot mentioned about this restaurant and if there is a post, it’s old. Any opinions on the Old Mill? Any other suggestions for places that take reservations? We’re looking for a mid-priced place that takes reservations because unfortunately our timing wasn’t very good and we’ll be in town the weekend of the NFL game. We’re staying at the Drury Court so would like somewhere in that general vicinity. We’ve already made reservations at the Landmark for Sunday night. The Bank on College Green was suggested but some in our party think it’s a little pricey even though I’ve told them that’s actually average for Dublin. It’s great traveling with a small group but sometimes makes things a little more complicated. Thank you

Hi Albert — can’t help with the old mill but we stayed at the Drury Court in May and loved it! I was honestly shocked by how expensive supposedly mid-price restaurants were in Dublin. The current exchange rate doesn’t help. Have you looked at Davy Byrnes pub? It’s an easy walk from the Drury Court (less than 5 minutes away) and quite good….just not as mid priced as I would have liked. We enjoyed a pretty reasonable lunch and The Bank, as well. Enjoy your trip!

We were just in Dublin last week, and also enjoyed Davy Byrnes. They take reservations, which is unusual for pubs. That was one of our better pub dinners. We also liked the Hairy Lemon, a pub not far from Drury Court Hotel.

We were delighted to see so many international cuisine options beyond pub fare in Dublin. Our favorites were La Maison (near Davy Byrnes) or Cafe en Seine (French) on Dawson St, both take reservations; Yamamori (Japanese); Nan Chinese for a lighter Dim Sum lunch. All of the above are walking distance from your hotel.

Lynne with an e - Thanks for the suggestions and opinion on Davy Byrnes. We’re really looking forward to our trip. I’ll definitely let the rest of my group know what you posted.
