Dublin, Killarney, Galway

Hello all. As I am starting to see everyone needs travel help, including myself. This October, my best friend and I will be traveling to Ireland. We will being doing 2 nights in Dublin, 2 in Killarney, 2 in Galway, 1 back in Dublin to fly out the following day. I have many questions and think I found the group to answer them.

  1. When should I exchange my currency?
  2. We have a car hold with Enterprise (insurance for us is a must, so will pick it up there) but would you say the GPS was accurate or confusing?
  3. I feel like there is so much to see. What would be your musts for the cities listed or along the ways?

I know I have tons more and I ll be sure to ask as time goes on.

Thanks,
Amberly

I wouldn't "exchange" money. Your best bet is to withdraw money from the ATM when you land in Dublin. This is always the best exchange rate.

We brought our own GPS (it was our Garmin, we just bought the chip with Ireland and UK Maps). This was cheaper than renting the GPS from the agency, so it could be worth looking at that if you already have a GPS device besides your smartphone. But our GPS was overall very accurate and quite useful. I think it is definitely preferable to have one.

There is a ton to see and do. Personally, I would go to Dingle over Killarney or Galway, but maybe others might disagree. I'd consider doing something like 2 nights in Dublin, 2 in Kilkenny, 2 in Dingle, and then one in Dublin on the back end. Or even, depending on how you do the day after a redeye, trying to head out of Dublin right away, and then saving Dublin for the last few nights of your trip.

Thank you for your response. We are actually using a travel company but doing the fly, Drive, and hotel. The cities are preset. Great advice on the currency. I ll definitely look into that.
