Dublin Itinerary - 2.5 days in June

Note we like to have a basic plan and will prebook 14 Henrietta Street, Book of Kells, Kilmainham Gaol , and EPIC Geneaolgy. Other than that we adjust on fly based on what we are enjoying and not worried if we don't make every site.

I would choose Chester Beatty over the Book of Kells any day. I know the Book of Kells is very famous, but it's behind glass. So you fight crowds to glimpse two pages and pay a premium to do so. Chester Beatty is filled with interesting treasures.

The National Museum ( the one with the archaeological collection) has incredible Celtic gold jewelry made thousands of years ago along with other astounding artifacts. Allow a minimum of 90 minutes for this free museum.
The National Gallery is packed with outstanding art by masters such as Da Vinci, Van Gogh and many works of the greatest Irish artists, such as Yeats.
This top museum is near Trinity College and has free
admission.
You might want to check out the exterior of the General Post Office on O’Connell Street as it was on its steps that Patrick Pearse first read the proclamation of the Irish Republic on April 24, 1916. The General Post Office— now a museum—was where more than 2,500 volunteers set up base and the “Easter Rising” for Independence started. You can still see bullet holes in the GPO’s columns from a century ago. For his part, Patrick Pearse surrendered six days after reading the Proclamation and was executed by the British the next month along with 13 others at Kilmainham Gaol. The British may have ended the lives of these patriots, but their fight was taken up by the people of Ireland and led to the birth of the independent Republic of Ireland 🇮🇪 that was formally recognized by the British in 1949.
Kilmainham Gaol is about two miles from central Dublin and can be reached by taking Bus#13 from O’Connell Street.

I would prioritize 14 Henrietta over both Dublin Castle and Christ Church, especially since 14 Henrietta is on the north side of the river and I assume you are staying on the north side. Similarly EPIC and Jeanie Johnston are on the north side. Everything else is south of the river. And with the exception of Kilmainham Gaol everything else is walking distance to each other.

The website for Kilmainham Gaol states it is “Closed Mondays and Tuesdays from January 15, 2024 Until Further Notice.”
Hopefully, this is only in effect this winter.
