Hello: I would like to ask for a Dublin Hotel recommendation; to tour the Dublin sights, and yet need to travel to Galway. Dublin: 4 night stay. I will need to travel by train to Galway.

I stayed at Stauntons on the Green and the Buswells in May 2025.
I took a taxi from my hotel to the Heuston train station to take the train to Galway.

In April we stayed at the College Green hotel in Dublin before going to Galway. We took a taxi from the hotel to Heuston station. When we came back to Dublin we stayed at the Shelbourne, which was exceptional. In Galway we enjoyed the wine bar at Sheridan's Cheesemongers and dinner at Kirby's. Enjoy!

I will do my research on these Dublin Hotels this week. I too am interested in
libraries and genealogy, plan to visit in Dublin for research.

I was there twice on my recent visit.
I won’t recommend the first hotel.
It was clean and functional and right on the bus route from the airport and had a really good breakfast, but there were no opening windows in the entire hotel and the room was really stuffy.
The second hotel was also convenient, clean and on a useful tram route, but my room was on the top floor , had two skylights which looked as if they had been permanently open for years, and had birds hopping and cheeping about up there!
Then it rained in the night…..right inside the room onto the carpet.
Earlier I had asked about the skylights, but was told they were no problem!
Breakfast was delicious and served in the hotel next door and it looked really nice….the hotel I mean.
It was called The Iveagh Garden Hotel, on Harcourt Street.
It seemed to be full of u. s. tour groups.
Not far from Trinity College area by tram or bus.
FYI: book your trains in advance.
I took the train to Cork and they were announcing only pre booked ticket holders could board as it was so busy.
No walk ups.
I had pre booked on Irish Rail.
