Dublin in December

Hi all, I am making a very quick two day trip to Dublin on my way to Greece. This trip is for my teen daughter who is just crazy about the idea of going to Ireland. I plan on taking her on an extended trip in the future but this one is just a surprise 2-day trip. I am wondering if it's possible to get out to the countryside during such a short trip or should we plan to just stay around Dublin and poke around? She is not one to enjoy cities but I am hoping that because it is Ireland she won't mind. I am thinking of booking an airbnb, does anyone have any recommendations?

Honestly, with just 2 days (or perhaps less than two - are you maybe counting your arrival day as one of those "two days"?), I'd suggest you just stick to Dublin. Plenty to see and do there for more than a day or two. Remember, days are short (and often wet) in December. Save the countryside for another trip when you have enough time to actually get out into it.

Hi David, thanks for your reply. I am not counting my arrival and departure days. Just the two full days we are there. I am looking at an airbnb about 45 minutes outside of Dublin as I think my daughter will appreciate a small village setting over the city. Is travel difficult to get back and forth to Dublin? Am I better off staying closer to the city? Recommendations on places to stay?

" Is travel difficult to get back and forth to Dublin?"

That would depend on exactly where you apartment is. When you say it's "45 minutes from Dublin," is that by car, bus, rail, or some other method? For instance, if a place is 45 minutes by car, but you're not going to have a car, and the only bus to Dublin runs once an hour and takes 75 minutes, the apartment is no longer 45 minutes each way to the city.
