Dublin Housing- central but quiet

Any suggestions for a lesser-known spot where we could get a twin room (B&B or otherwise)? I'm striking out with all of Rick's suggestions, and have checked all the sites. We'd like quiet and w/in a 10-minute walk of downtown Dublin.

Try the Glen Guesthouse on Lower Gardiner St. I stayed there a few years ago. The street is full of guesthouses and B&Bs and is very quiet at night. It is just a couple of blocks' walk to O'Connell St, and across the river from the Temple Bar area. They advertise "power showers" and they really are. Their website is: www.glenguesthousedublin.com

Hey there! My husband and I will be traveling to Ireland for the first time this September/October, but have heard great things about AirBnB.com. Perhaps you'll have better luck checking on there? I've seen accommodations located in the heart of Temple Bar. Hope it helps!

You didn't say when you are going, so it may be moot at this point -- but if not, we like Hotel Buswells. It has a great location near Parliament and Trinity, and walking distance to good shopping. It's quaint and quiet -- always a plus for us.

We love Number 31, just below St Stephen's Green. It's a bit pricey, but def worth it! Their breakfast (included) is the best we've ever had!

For anyone checking out this post, please be advised that while Temple Bar may be central, it is definitely not quiet! It wouldn't meet the needs of the OP or anyone else looking for "central and quiet."

We stayed at Buswell's last week on our trip to Dublin. Very quiet, and we were able to walk to all the places that we wanted to see in the city. Great breakfast too. You may want to check out the Hop On-Hop Off buses. Good way to get around town to see the out-of-the-way sites.

Kim is right. Temple Bar is far from quiet, particularly on the weekend.

We stayed at Colette's B&B in Ranelagh Park two weeks ago, a very quite neighborhood with restaurants and pubs in Ranelagh Village if you don't want to eat downtown in the evening. The LUAS train was inexpensive and a quick ride to St. Stephen's Green and then about a 3 minute walk to the corner of Grafton Street. Colette's breakfast was wonderful - fresh fruit and french press coffee in addition to the usual big selection of cooked breakfasts.
