Dublin hotel suggestion

Any suggestions for a reasonably priced Hotel in Dublin, general area of Temple Bar. We enjoyed Harding Hotel 2 years ago but did not see it mentioned this year in Rick’s book. Thanks,

I have to ask if you're sure you want to stay near Temple Bar. It's jammed and very noisy. For example, when we visited the area, one pub near the river was playing "Molly Malone" over and over and over at top volume on outdoor speakers.

We found the Harcourt Hotel to be reasonably priced, clean and pleasant. It's easy walking distance from St Stephens Green, Grafton St, and Trinity College. However, there are half a dozen pubs on the street and the noise was awfully loud late at night (1 AM to 5 AM -- I'm not kidding!). If you're not there on Fri-Sat nights, and if the weather is such that people want to stay indoors, then the noise should not be as bad.

We stayed at Albany house for a night by St. Stephens green and enjoyed. It’s a short walk to Temple Bar area. We also stayed a couple nights at Trinity Lodge. It was ok, but overpriced. Wish we had stayed at Albany house the entire visit.

Thanks. We did stay at Harding Hotel by Christ Church Cathedral and found it to be quiet. I was just not used to the higher prices in just 2 years. Maybe it’s not considered Temple Bar area but certainly close.
We will explore your suggestions as well.

The Buswells was a wonderful experience. It was right across the street from Trinity College and within walking distance to St. Stephen’s Green. It also had an attached restaurant/bar.

I stayed at Trinity College a couple of years ago. Very reasonable rates. Shared bathroom not a major inconvenience

I did a AirBnB in Dublin this summer. It was a bit out from the center. 25-30 minute walk to Temple Bar. I also bought a LUAS (sp.?) tram ticket for two of us. We walked to Dublin in the mornings, viewing the sights and sounds, stopping for coffee, etc. We used the LUAS to come home. Late at night, for us- around 11:00, we did not want to walk home in dark streets. The AirBnB was fine. Shared bath, but with the owners going out to work everyday, we had the place to ourselves. We had kitchen privileges, so we did breakfast and brought home take away or frozen dinners for dinner. We bought drinks and kept them in the frig. So, it was a bit cheaper than buying 3 meals in a restaurant every day. We have also used hostels in Dublin. Jacobs Inn for one. They have private rooms for rent, with ensuite shower. They have breakfast, but it is mostly bread, butter, jam and coffee.

If you want somewhere central, but not too noisy at night, you should try The Merrion Square area. It's walking distance to the key spots such as Grafton St., Trinity College and Temple Bar but you get some peace and quiet at night. You also get more bang for your buck, in terms of quality.

Take a look at these hotels in this area of Dublin . They have a couple of options in this area, as well as Stephens Green, which is just up from Grafton St.

I stayed at Buswell's earlier this month. Two different rooms. Serious cleanliness issues. I wouldn't stay there again.

On a previous trip I stayed at the O'Callaghan Davenport. I would go back.

I recommend the Arlington, clean, friendly and a good pub, less noisy then the Temple Bar area at 3am
