Hello Travelers,
I will be traveling to Ireland mid or late March , flying into Dublin from Philadelphia. I have 7, 8 or more days if needed and wish to visit Dublin, Derry , Portrush , Giant Causeway & Belfast. I will be using only the available trains and other public transportation. I am curious if anyone can share how they approached these places , where to begin? I am not locked into flying into Dublin and seeing Dublin first. I am open to heading to Belfast and finishing in Dublin before I leave for London. I have the Rick Steves travel books but also appreciate any lodging that you loved and would return to. Is there one town that is a good base for the Antrim coast ? Can I get by with trains and buses on the Antrim Coast? In Dublin any thoughts on the Albany House or Schoolhouse Hotel for location in March? Thanks so much for your suggestions.
What a fun trip and very doable by public transport! We used trains and buses here and found it very user friendly.

I would take the direct bus from Dublin Airport to Belfast upon arrival. Spend your time there and then take the train to Coleraine where you walk through the train station to the buses and take the bus to Port Rush, Bushmills or Giants Causeway. After exploring this area you have the option of bus or train to Derry.
After Derry, take the train back to Dublin and enjoy your time there.
I love The Bayview Hotel in Port Ballintrae. I easily walked to Dunluce Castle and the Giant's Causeway from here. If you are a walker, this wouldn't be a problem for you either. Lovely view out over the harbor.

Thank you , I appreciate your responses & especially all the details . When a new place is being explored you cannot have too much information!
