Planning a few days in Dublin in February.
Looking for names of day tour companies.
I'm a very experienced traveler but never been to Ireland. I'm going because I found a very cheap flight to Dublin. So why not. I'm retired. I will stay only in Dublin and would a tour for 1 ( or maybe 2) day trips.
I haven't done it, but I came across wild wicklow tours at one point when I was considering things to do near Dublin. Looked like good fun, here is the link if you're interested. https://wildwicklow.ie/
I also made a day trip out of seeing Newgrange when I stayed in Dublin once, which was doable all by bus. Worth a trip if you are into history and don't mind public transport.
I went on the Collins Day Tours trip to Glendalough, Wicklow, and Kilkenny in 2018. It was well organized and very reasonable. I believe that it is the only tour that they have.
We did two tours with Irish Day Tours this past May, and both exceeded our expectations. One was a Boyne Valley et al tour and the other was a Rock of Cashel, Blarney Castle, and Cahir Castle tour.
In 2018 we took the Mary Gibbons day tour to Newgrange which was excellent. In 2019 I hired Custom Irish Tours, https://www.customirishtours.com/, recommended by a former RS Ireland guide, for a tour to Glendalough, Avoca and Powerscourt. We were able to adjust the latter tour on the fly as our interests and an opportunity for a whiskey tasting became available.
