In April I am going to Dublin for the day, is the Temple Bar pub worth a visit or is it a classic tourist trap. This is my first trip to Dublin even though I only live a 30 minute flight away I am ashamed to say.

Yes it is a little touristy but still fun, I actually liked O'neal's Pub better for a traditional Irish pub, plus the food was excellent. If your only there a day I would sign up for the Literary Pub Crawl, it's fun and you get a good feel for Irish history.
