Dublin- Cork - Shannon?

Hi,
We need to be in Cork in Aug 2020. There is going to be 6 of us (4 adults and 2 kids- 4 and 2 years old) and we are going to spend about 10-12 days in Ireland. We can either fly in to Dublin or Shannon. I was wondering if I should do all 3 cities or would it be a little bit rush?
Should we just go to Dublin and Cork? or we can fly into Dublin, take the train to Cork and fly out from Shannon?

Thanks!

The west coast has the most beautiful scenery in Ireland so I would drive along the west coast up to Shannon.

Flying in to Dublin and out of Shannon would save some backtracking, but I would put Dublin closest to the time you have to be in Cork (knowing the rest of your schedule helps with advice). Two days in Dublin should be fine (3 nights). Don’t know how much time you have to allot in Cork for your obligation, so hard to advise otherwise.

With only 10-12 days and the fact that you need to be in Cork, why not fly in and out of Shannon and enjoy just the west and south of the island? There's plenty to see there. While Dublin is the capital and therefore has its own brand of importance, it's not necessarily the most beautiful or the most "real Irish" place in the country. Not trying to talk you out of it, but your post seems to assume that Dublin must be on your itinerary and I'm wondering if that's really the case.
