Dublin area 4 days/5 nights

Hi!

We will be traveling to Europe in June and July. Right now, at the end of our trip, we are scheduled to have 4 days and 5 nights in Dublin. I have started looking for hotels and was wondering if anyone had a suggestions.

I am wondering if it is possible to stay a little more outside the city to find something cheaper. Does anyone have a recommendation for a place to stay that is less than $150 per night? We have lots of activities to do, but we won't be able to do them if we can't find somewhere in the budget to stay.

So basically, I just need advice on either places to stay or areas that are close to Dublin that might be good to stay but not in the heart of the city.

I keep looking at maps but am getting confused or unsure of a plan here. I would appreciate any tips or past experiences for exploring Dublin and the surrounding area.

Thanks in advance for any info. I

Take a look at Booking.com. Their map feature is quite handy for sorting out the relative locations of the various properties, as well as their proximity to the DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transit) system ... which would be a handy way to get into the city center without necessarily paying the premium prices to stay there. Prices will tend to decrease the further away from the city center you go.

The seaside towns of Dun Laoghaire (south of Dublin) and Howth (North) are quite nice and might be cheaper than staying in Dublin city. If you're planning to take some tours you may not want to stay quite so far afield, but the DART grid will at least give you some ideas as you begin your search.

Greetings from Ireland, would you try a hostel? If so try the Generator, it was a 4 star hotel before being bought by a multi-national private equity firm and is now a enormous luxury hostel, with private rooms under €100 per night
But before doing that try the Harding Hotel on Fishamble street. Theres tons of other also, let me know if you don't find any.

The hotel I stayed in during my first trip to Dublin is now called the Dublin Central Inn (it was a Holiday Inn when I stayed there). It is by no means fancy and the rooms were small, but it was cheap, clean, and within walking distance of a good many of the things we wanted to see. Not knowing your specific dates I can't give detailed price info, but for a random week in July it looks like it is about $100 per night for 2 people on Hotels.com.

Hi Emily:

I will be staying in Dublin for six nights starting in late March. I used booking.com to find an accommodation. The place that I selected is the Pembroke Townhouse where I will be paying about $150 per night for a single. This place is located in the quiet and ritzy Ballsbridge neighborhood (think "embassy row"). While it is about a 30 minute walk from central Dublin it is close to a rapid transit station which will bring you to most of Dublin's tourist sites (either directly or by means of transfer to the tram lines or bus lines). I looked at some hotels which were centrally located and decided against them because they are either more expensive than this place or have really bad reviews (email me if you want the names of these places).
