Dublin and nearby areas, sightseeing in August

I will be disembarking a cruise ship in Dublin, early August. I was in this area a lot when I was a child, as we spent summers with relatives in Bray. I don't really remember anything about what we did when n Dublin.

I have booked a 3 day stay in Dublin - midweek.

I have been looking to see if there were any tours that take you around Dublin, give you an overview, or London Walks type tours. But am not finding anything that seems to make sense for me. Do people find Dublin easily walkable? Is it easy to get between sites?

Would also like to revisit Bray briefly. + I have seen the gardens of Powerscourt nearby and trying to see if I could go there after Bray. I think this is possible using DART?

Would be grateful for suggestions and advice of how to best structure this trip.

Many thanks
Katy

If you look in Rick Steve’s’ Ireland tour book, he lists several city guides for Dublin. We’ve used his recommendations in the past for different cities and they have been very good, but we haven’t used one in Dublin.

Dublin is very walkable. The popular sites that are a little further out of the center are Kilmainham Gaol and Guinness Storehouse, but they are easy to get to. There are loads of walking tours in Dublin. One place to find them that was new to me last summer is AirBnB, which offers "experiences" in addition to the "stays" that you may be familiar with. There are lots of options for Dublin.
One thing to know about Dublin is that popular sites often require advance bookings. I know the Book of Kells and EPIC do, and I think also the Gaol. This is a common topic on the Forum, so be sure to do a search for your preferred places to see if this is necessary and how to do it.

To Powerscourt the most sensible route is DART to Bray, then taxi. A bus gets you to Kilgarron, but still a good walk from there.
Bus 44 also gets to Enniskerry (almost the same walk as Kilgarron) from Central Dublin hourly
