Dublin and Galway, 3 days total, end of July

Hello! My friend and I (university-aged) are traveling to Ireland for three days this July (28-31). We'll be staying in Galway for a day and a half, and Dublin for another day. We want to dedicate one day entirely to Galway's arts festival (29), but we're a little lost what to do before our evening train tickets to Dublin on the second day (30). The same rule applies for the 31; we don't have any specific plans for that day.

For Galway, we'd like to know if there are any shortish (5ish hours or shorter), scenic tours recommended. For Dublin, we haven't really found anything that fits our tastes, so general recommendations work.

(Additionally, if anyone knows, is the "10kg check-in bag" for Aer Lingus a carry on bag? Our ticket specifically says no checked bag so we can't really imagine it being anything else).

Thanks!

There is the HOHO bus...

Lally Tours also offer a half day trip to Cliffs of Moher. The morning tour would probably work for you. Nearly everything else seems to be full day tours.

For Aer Lingus, they made me check in a carry-on bag that was "too heavy"...I think it was about 14 pounds. I had to scramble to get my essentials transferred to my backpack and was very glad they didn't lose my luggage since I forgot about my camera.

In Dublin, if you want to see Book of Kells, get tickets in advance. Otherwise, look at the map and decide what you want to see. It's a very walkable city, so you can easily see the highlights just strolling around.

Trotter, thanks for the gifted article! I've been particularly frazzled these past couple of days, to the point where my eyes glazed over the "collect on arrival" part of the support article regardless of the dozens of times I've re-read the page. Of course, it was right in front of me, haha. I'm taking a transatlantic flight, so my bag should be following the first listed dimensions (although, it will be a duffel bag so I'll have to see if it is still allowed with reversed heigh and weight limits).
