Dublin and Doolin in October

My husband and I will spend 4 nights in Dublin and 5 nights in Doolin in early October. We will begin in Dublin and then rent a car to drive to Doolin. I would love recommendations for:
1) Restaurants and pubs with traditional Irish music in Dublin, Doolin and no more than about an hour drive from Doolin
2) Ferry to bike ride and overnight in Inishmore
- Do you recommend renting a bicycle in Inishmore and doing a self-guided tour around the island? Or is there a tour company
you recommend for a day in Inishmore
- Recommendations for places to eat and hear music in Inishmore
- Recommendations for B&B for one night in Inishmore
3) Things to do in and near Doolin including day trips from Doolin, bike rides, etc.

Thank you!
Deb

Hi Deb! I have some thoughts for you. Doolin has several pubs and I think they all have live music - you should be able to find something easily. Obviously the Cliffs of Moher are close to Doolin - I recommend visiting early or late, but not in the middle of the day when the crowds are overwhelming. There is a nice walk from Doolin all the way to the cliffs - walking part of that would be enjoyable! I definitely recommend an overnight on Inishmore. The biking is fun, but there are some hills, so consider an e-bike option depending on your biking ability and fitness level. Having a bike allows you to move around the island at will, which was especially enjoyable for us after the last ferry left for the day, though not bad at other times. My intention in spending time in the Aran Islands was to appreciate the remoteness, silence (at night), and stark beauty, not to see everything. Just being there, amongst the fields and stone walls, was enough for me. I didn't take a tour, though recognize that it would make sense for day trippers to efficiently see many sites (though at the same time as all the other visitors!). We visited at the end of the day and peaceful experiences. Since you want to hear music at night, I recommend that you stay near town and walking distance of the pier which would allow you walk to pubs without having to bike at night or take a taxi). That is not what we did - we stayed mid-island where there are no food options at night, though we were closer to the major sites (and, again, more remote that in town which was great for us, but perhaps not for everyone).
