Dublin and Area 7 Day Suggestions?

Howdy,

Flying into Dublin on 4/2 and returning back to the US on 4/9. We will have a car and are thinking about going to Cork as well. What would you suggest as the must do and should do in both areas. Thank you so much! This will be my first time out of the US so an actual entry stamp on my passport!

Cheers!

I would not rent a car for the time you are in Dublin. In Dublin, our must do/see:
- Kilmainham Gaol
- Trinity College/book of cells
- st patrick's cathedral
- walk in St Stephen's green
- walk around temple bar

Not sure why you picked Cork... what do you like to do?

Absolutely do not rent a car for Dublin. Also if planning to see the Gaol, you really must get tickets ahead of time to insure entry, it is our favorite site to see in Dublin. Have been there three times already.

hm we have never gotten a car for Dublin.. but we have only ever been there for shorter visits.. 4 days and 5 days.. and we used public transport to get out to Howth.. which was so nice, did the walk along the cliffs and had the best mussels ever there on the docks.
We took a tour to NewGrange and Hill of Tara too.. loved it.

If you are really going to base your stay in Dublin I don't think you would need a car for most of the visit.. maybe just for a few days to do daytrips out of city.

Good recommends for Dublin. Stay 3 nights. On one day train or bus 2 hours
( each way ) to Belfast. See the Titanic Musuem, take the Black Cab Tour of The Troubles and visit St Georges market then back to Dublin.

Next morning Rent the car at the airport.

Things to see outside of Dublin:
Newgrange
Glendalough
Rock of Cashel

Personally I'd by pass Cork and drive to Dingle. 2-3 overnights there. Visit the Gap of Dunloe, Killareny National Park and the Muckross House, drive Slea Head ( head out early so not trapped behind the tour busses). From Dingle get another early start and drive to Burren National park and then onto Gallway. Overnight then back to Dublin.
