I will be changing planes in Dublin airport to fly from the US to Edinburgh. My current schedule gives me one hour to change planes. I assume I will stay in the airside concourse but will need to clear passport control. No luggage checked. Is one hour adequate time to clear passport control on a continuing flight and make the one hour connection? Thank you.
If your ticket includes both segments under one confirmation number, the airline that sold you the ticket believes you have enough time and will get you where you're going. If you arranged two separate flights, then the second flight is "un-covered" (the second airline assumes no responsibility). Un-covered short connections are risky.
I don't think you have to go through passport control, since you'll do that in Edinburgh - someone might have more recent experience.
You'll go through passport control in Dublin, not Edinburgh.
One hour is possible if your flight from the US arrives on time; if not, the airline (Aer Lingus, perhaps) will put you on the next available flight.
Thank you.
I’ve done this twice fairly recently traveling to Manchester. Dublin passport control is pretty quick. The first time no problem, the second the incoming flight was delayed so not enough time to connect but Aer Lingus handled it very well and already had boarding passes waiting for us at the transfer desk for the next flight an hour later.
Ramblin On is correct. Passport Control in Dublin. When you get to Edinburgh, you just walk off the plane as if it were a domestic flight.
Dublin Airport has a flight connections guide:

Slate, thank you for your reply. I feel better about the transfer now. My itinerary is due to a cancellation and customer service is a boiler room so I hate to tinker with the reservation unless absolutely necessary. I think I can rest easier with the benefit of your experiences. Safe travels.
