Dublin

We will be staying in Dublin area for three days, we would like to go outside of Dublin one day by train. Which area would be recommended for history and a quaint town to visit?

We went to Belfast, Northern Ireland for a day. We took a Black Taxi tour of some of the "Troubles" areas there and took the excellent tour of Belfast City Hall. Had a really good lunch at Mourne Seafood. A beautiful city with a lot of history!

I would visit Bru na Boinne and tour Newgrange. There are easy bus connections from Dublin. The tombs date back to around 3,200 BC. Another option would be to visit the town of Trim and the castle there. Also by bus. Or consider a day mini van tour into the Wicklow Mountains stopping at Glendalough monastery. Wild Wicklow Tours covers this and more.
