DUB to Kilkenny without driving

Can someone tell me how to get from DUB (arriving on a Sunday morning at 10:20) to Kilkenny without a car? We have to be in Dublin at the end of our trip for business so prefer to land and head out of town rather than staying in Dublin that first night. I would like to rent a car in Kilkenny (or other small town) rather than at DUB after an overnight flight and never having driven on the "other" side of the road.
Basically looking for easiest way to land, get out of Dublin into smaller town where we can rent car, so it doesn't necessarily have to be Kilkenny. We plan to head to the south/west for Dingle, Ring of Kerry, etc. Maybe the best thing to do is just suck it up and get the car upon landing?
Suggestions?

Thanks!!!

Train would be easiest. Need to make your way to Dublin Heuston station (downtown) from the airport - taxi would be easiest with luggage in tow. The trip to Kilkenny takes less than an hour and a half.
Check the Irish rail website for details: http://www.irishrail.ie/
If you want to go further west note that the train will take you all the way to Limerick if you're so inclined.
Waiting a day before picking up your car is a wise decision. Enterprise and Europecar have concessions in Kilkenny.

I investigated this option as well. There is also a bus option you can take. Rome2rio.com will show you all your options for comparison.

One way rentals are not that popular in Ireland so chances are you will pay a hefty premium for picking up a car in a town and leaving it at the airport on your departure.

Sunday morning is one of the quietest days on our roads if you are wary of driving.

I have done this but the opposite way.

When you get out of the terminal, look for the Airlink 747 bus. This will take you to Heuston station. From there you get the train to Kilkenny. Very easy.

Airlink bus works great and has plenty of space for your luggage. No reason to pay for a taxi, unless you want to....

The Airlink bus is indeed a great option. Cost for two people with luggage would be about 12 Euros.
A taxi, on the other hand, would provide the convenience of door to door service for about 20 Euros.
