We will drive to Belfast from Galway and stay overnight. Any thing we need to know about the drive, ideas for where to stay and things to do. We can get an early start to sightsee and stay the entire day. Thanks for your suggestions.
There are some nice places to stay over in the Titanic Quarter.
By all means visit the Titanic Museum - it really is world class. Plan to spend several hours.
We enjoyed the HOHO bus too - gave a great overview of the city. We then revisited some of the areas that especially appealed to us.
The city center is pedestrian friendly, and a great area for strolling in the evening.
It's definitely worth a tour of the Falls Road and Shankill Road areas. Serious stuff, but worth it. Especially with a good guide.
A couple of years ago, I stayed at the Days Inn which is now the Holiday Inn Belfast City Centre http://www.ihg.com/holidayinn/hotels/us/en/belfast/bfsas/hoteldetail
It is a good location - walkable to most everywhere (we only had to take a cab to the Titanic quarter). It is next to Sandy Row - we walked that street and it was fascinating. It was a nice budget hotel and on the plus side offered free parking.
If you like pubs - I would suggest some pub crawling:) There are lots of interesting pubs to explore with some very unique interiors (far more interesting than the normal Dublin scene).
are headed further north after ? I recommend giants causeway, bushmills, and carrick a rede bridge, in that order
