One of you veterans might know: is there any appreciable difference in weekend vs weekday traffic on the Ring of Kerry?

Last year we were in Sneem the last week of May. The RoK definitely got more crowded as you got closer to the weekend and to June.

The weekends can be more problematic at peak times. We've been there during that period several times and really never had any major problems. The only major traffic crush we got in was in Killarney. They've widened many of the roads (though it won't seem like it :) ) So there is little real problem. Tour buses can be annoying but the drivers, bless them, somehow seem to keep calm and good natured and will direct you through any minor jams. As always....early morning....pre 10am....or post 4:30 pm after the tour buses leave are the most relaxed driving times.
Also the incredible Skellig Ring, just off the ROK in the far west of the peninsula, doesn't allow any tour buses ever......So it's narrow roads are a breeze we found.
Meant to mention at that time of year it stays light very late so many enjoy touring a lot after 4:30 to enjoy hours of low tourist volume.
