Hello all. This Fall my husband and I will be spending a total of 2 weeks in Ireland. Towards the end of our visit, we will be driving back from Letterfrack in County Galway to Trim Castle in County Meath. We want our drive to go fairly quickly but also want as much scenery as possible. It looks like there are two options. Option 1 (more southern route) is to take N59 to Galway and then take M-6 and M-4 until turning north for Trim Castle. Option 2 (more northern route) is to take N59 north to Westport and then take N-5 and N-4 and R-156 to Trim Castle. Option 2 takes about 30 minutes longer. Is it worth the extra time? Thanks so much for any input.
It might depend on the route you take to get to Letterfrack in the first place. However you get there, go out the other way?
Thanks Stacy! Actually, we're coming up the west coast from the Dingle Peninsula. So we won't be on either of those highways prior to driving to Trim.
If you’re coming from the Dingle peninsula, you’ll have to drive through Galway, yes? Then on your way out, take the northerly route to Trim.
